Audible is an online provider of verbal information, education programming and audio entertainment. It sells audio books, TV and radio programs and audio translation of newspapers and magazines. Audible is listed in NASDAQ and works under corporate profile. The Company is founded in Newark, New Jersey in 1995. it has more then 200 employee, it went public on 21st of July, 1999.

The Company introduced first Audio Player with digital quality in 1997. Next year it published a Website from those audio files in its proprietary. The format of the Web site is downloadable. The company has several patents in this field. Audible licensed the Algebraic Code Excited Linear Prediction (ACELP) codec for its quality downloads of level 3 in 2000.

In 2003, Company made a special deal with Apple computers to give their index of books on the iTunes Music Store. Books bought on iTunes Music Store have .mp extension and have Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) audio covered by Fair Play Digital Rights Management of Apple.

The company launched Audible Air Software in 2005 that makes it potential to download audio books over the air – directly and wirelessly to devices like Smart Phone or Personal Digital Assistance (PDA). This software eliminates the requirement of downloading audio books (Copy Controlled) first to the Mac or Computer and then transmits it to Windows, Palm OS and Symbian Mobile Devices.
