The Ignatius Press was started by a Jesuit priest, Father Joseph Fessio SJ who has been a pupil of Pope Benedict XVI, in 1978. It was founded to propagate the teachings of the Lord. The press is named after Ignatius of Loyola who was the founder of the Society of Jesus. The members of this group were known as Jesuits. The Ignatius Press has its headquarters in San Francisco, California. It is one of the central Catholic institutions in the country.
